3.1 Event Medicals
Most events are
mainly happy moments and it is everyone’s prayer in any event that the need for
medicals does not arise. However, it is important that we keep a medical team/medication on standby. The worst case scenario is to have a first aid box loaded with original drugs from recognized a pharmacy. The Event Manager working with the Event Centre Manager, should ensure that the first aid box is provided somewhere that is within easy reach so that in the case of any emergency, something can be
started while an ambulance is on the way. Here a few pre-event checks that can be performed during vendors meeting.
1. Some event centres / locations / venues have an in-house clinic with defibrillators, it is important to double check and ensure functionality.
2. Check out the first aid box and ensure it is
fully loaded with the right drugs and medicaments.
3. Meet with the assigned medical personnel
and review medical plan.
4. Meet with the vendors / contractors and
review medical plan.
5. Identify the nearest ambulance
service and establish contact.
6. Double check to ensure that the
medical representation is knowledgeable in performing resuscitation emergency.
7. Do a test run.
