If you leaf through the résumés of
Nigeria’s most accomplished women, you might expect to find names like Yewande
Zaccheaus at the helm of government ministries, global corporations, or
multinationals. And for a while, that was the path she was on. With a Law
degree from the University of Lagos and a prestigious LL.M from Cambridge
University, she built a career that many professionals aspire to — first in
legal practice, then in merchant banking, and later as Company Secretary, Legal
Adviser, and Head of Private Banking at Ecobank Nigeria.
By every measure, she was destined for a future in the high echelons of
corporate leadership or public service.
But in 2002, she walked away.
And that is where the real story begins.
