Yewande Zaccheaus: The Woman Who Brought Discipline, Dignity & Vision to Nigeria’s Event Industry

If you leaf through the résumés of Nigeria’s most accomplished women, you might expect to find names like Yewande Zaccheaus at the helm of government ministries, global corporations, or multinationals. And for a while, that was the path she was on. With a Law degree from the University of Lagos and a prestigious LL.M from Cambridge University, she built a career that many professionals aspire to — first in legal practice, then in merchant banking, and later as Company Secretary, Legal Adviser, and Head of Private Banking at Ecobank Nigeria.

By every measure, she was destined for a future in the high echelons of corporate leadership or public service.
But in 2002, she walked away.

And that is where the real story begins.

BACKGROUND

The Event Industry in Nigeria is presently unregulated. As such there are many players in the sectors serving from the Low income to most Affluent in the society.

To fill in the gap or regulation, many practitioners have come together to forge a kind of discipline in the industry. Thus, we have organisations like

1. Association of Professional Party Organizers and Event Managers of Nigeria (APPOEMN)

2. Rental Professionals Society of Nigeria (RPSN)

3. Association of Event Vendors of Nigeria (ASSEV)

4. Nigeria Event Management Group (NEMG) a linkedin Group

International Day for Biodiversity | Laudato Si | Sustainability

International Day for Biodiversity

On International Day for Biodiversity, 22nd of May every year we celebrate the beauty and richness of our planet's ecosystems. As we also mark the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis' Laudato Si', we reflect on the urgent need for harmony with nature through sustainable development. Let's recommit to protecting our planet, preserving biodiversity, and promoting integral ecology. Together, we can create a more just and sustainable world for all. #BiodiversityDay #LaudatoSi #Sustainability"

Biodiversity is all the different kinds of life you'll find in one area—the variety of animals, plants, fungi, and even microorganisms like bacteria that make up our natural world. Each of these species and organisms work together in ecosystems, like an intricate web, to maintain balance and support life.

Title: Celebrating Harmony with Nature: Reflecting on Biodiversity and Sustainable Development through the Lens of Laudato Si' 10th Anniversary

Objective: To commemorate International Day for Biodiversity by highlighting the importance of living in harmony with nature, while reflecting on the principles of Pope Francis' Laudato Si' encyclical.

Key Themes:

1. Integral Ecology: Promoting a holistic approach to environmental stewardship.

2. Sustainable Development: Encouraging practices that balance economic, social, and environmental needs.

3. Biodiversity Conservation: Protecting ecosystems and species for future generations.

Activities:

1. Awareness Campaigns: Educating communities on biodiversity importance.

2. Sustainable Practices: Showcasing eco-friendly initiatives such as Tree Planting

3. Interfaith Dialogue: Fostering collaboration among diverse faiths for environmental stewardship.

Expected Outcomes:

1. Increased awareness on biodiversity conservation.

2. Adoption of sustainable practices.

3. Strengthened global commitment to environmental protection.

This celebration aligns with the Laudato Si' message, promoting a culture of care for our common home.
